In His Name...

I believe it is of paramount importance to prove and know the actual fact about the name of our savior as Apostle Paul declared in 1 Thessalonians 5:22: that we should prove all things in order to hold onto the truth. First, we have to get that there is only one name given through which one can have salvation. Acts 4:12 made it succinct that no other name given for salvation. Many say we can call him Emmanuel, Prince of Peace, lord of lords, etc. Yes, but there is only one name through which he actuates the mission of saving from sin. This is supported more by the use of singularity of word in reference to his name, that is, nowhere was the names used in references to him.

Some people assert that his name is not important, that is all about having a good heart and doing well. I want to say that his name is very important. Yehocanan (John) 1:12 says that his name is the criteria for achieving the power to become the son of God (that is become born again). It is through his name that one can achieve forgiveness and remission of sins (Luke 24:47), salvation from sin (Acts 2:21, 4:12) and freedom from condemnation [Yehocanan (John) 3:18]. Moreover, one cannot cay confidently well that he knows a person without the knowledge of his name.
Today, our Lord and savior has been referred to with many names as Jesus, Yahshua, Yeshua, Yehoshua, Yahoshua, Joshua, etc. Among all these, is any or none his name? How can we ascertain his name, knowing its importance? Do we not know for sure for it has been for about 2,000 years, as many claim?
The first issue is to know where he came from. It is known that he came down from heaven but he was born and bred a Hebrew to a Hebrew man and woman. Salvation, according to Yehocanan (John) 4:22 came from the Hebrew. He was born under the rites of the law (Galatians 4:4), circumcised and named in the temple after eight days. Therefore, he was given a Hebrew name. One fact that has been is that in Hebrew alphabets, there is no letter or sound, ‘J’ so; no name/word in Hebrew has ‘J’ such as Jesus, Joshua, etc.
Are you aware that everything about our Christ had already been written before he was born? From the article on THE GRACE, it was made known that, principally, the law and then the prophets wrote all about Christ. In Matt.5:17, Christ said that he did not come to destroy but to fulfill the law and the prophets. In Matt 11:13, he declared that the prophets and the law prophesied. Therefore, it was the prophecies of the law (mainly) and the prophets that he came to fulfill. Also, in Yehocanan 5:45-47, Christ made it known that Moses wrote about him and for us to believe him, we must believe Moses; and that his words are the writings of Moses. Furthermore, Luke 24:27 and 44-47 made it succinct that the scriptures (the Law called Moses, the prophets and then the psalm) wrote about him of which he made them understand.
Now, we see that principally Moses (the Law) and the prophets wrote/prophesied all about Christ. The question is, did Moses write on the name of Christ? To answer this question will lead us to comprehend the law the more. According to Galatians 3:19, the Law, God gave through Moses, was given because of sin. The law, a teacher/school master according to Galatians 3:24 wrote all about sin – what sin is, how sin came about, and how the solution to sin is (which is about Christ). The prophecies of Moses about Christ came in two forms: directly and indirectly. The indirect prophecies came as statutes, ordinances, feasts and all the more, events, that is historical events. Galatians 4:21-31 declared the issue of Abraham and his two children from Sarah and Hagar as an allegory in vs. 24. Also, God through Moses delivered the children of Israel through the sacrifice of the Passover lamb. This event is an allegory of the issue that God, through Christ, will save us from sin (even with Christ as the Passover lamb (1 Cor.5:7). Also, an ordinance was given in Deuteronomy 25:4; that we should not muzzle the ox that is treading out the corn was written in 1 Cor. 9:9-10 that this is not for the sake of the ox but for the sake of us.
On the issue at hand, in Deuteronomy 18:15-18, a prophecy about a prophet like unto Moses was said will be raised from Israel was made. Do you think it’s about Christ? I know, it’s about him because there is no other prophet ever compared to Moses except Christ [see Yehocanan (John) 1:17; Hebrews 3:1-6]. This prophecy came in form of historical event that Moses dropped the baton which was taken by another person and just like in the prophecy, all must hearken unto him. This event is a true prophecy about Christ and who is that person? The first thing that might come into our mind is Joshua (the son of nun) but his name is not Joshua. He, being a Hebrew man, his name is יְהוֹשֻׁעַ (Pronounced Yeh_how_shua) transliterated Yehoshua; translated in English as “Yah is Salvation”; Igbo “Yah bu nzoputa”; Greek “Yah es Soteria”. King James Version referred to this man in Numbers 13:16 only as Jehoshua. This man, the son of Nun answered the same name as our savior; such that in Acts 7:45 and Hebrews 4:8, referred to him (the son of Nun) as Jesus by King James Version (KJV) while others like RSV, NIV, etc., referred to same personality as Joshua. From the Watchtower Bible Society tract, “The Divine Name that will Endure Forever”, it said that Jesus family and friends never called him Jesus but something like Yeshua or perhaps Yehoshua in all daily activities while he was here on earth. From the Hebrew Scriptures, his name (the son of Nun) is Yehoshua.
One more thing is that, as many claim, there’s no way this name יְהוֹשֻׁעַ can become Jesus, Joshua, Yahshua, Yeshua nor Yahoshua but transliterated and pronounced Yehoshua and translated Yah is salvation in English and others seen above. Therefore, the name of our Lord and Christ is YEHOSHUA and only this can grant us all the profit in his Name. Repent today and believe in his name, YEHOSHUA
