THE HOLY SCRIPTURES

This article deals with the Holy Scripture (the one written of in the bible, most especially from Matityahu (Matthew) -Revelation). It explains the importance and also defines actually what the word, Holy Scripture or the Scripture is pointing to.
The Holy Scripture is of high preeminence in the life of every Christian. In 1 Timothy 3:15, apostle Shaul (Paul) stated that the Holy Scripture, which Timothy knew from childhood, is able to make one wise unto salvation through faith in Christ Yehoshua. In vs. 16-17, he stated further that the Scripture, of the inspiration of God, is profitable for doctrine (teaching), for reproof, for correction and instruction in righteousness. He also stated that it is through the Holy Scripture that every man of God (every child of God) may be perfect [after being taught, reproved, corrected and instructed in righteousness] and thoroughly equipped for every good works. Yehoshua told the Sadducees that they err because they do not know the Scriptures in Mark 12:24.

In 2 Peter 1:15-27, apostle Kepha (Peter), while reiterating that the gospel preached was not of cunningly devised fables (as most doctrines and religions do), said that they were eye witnesses of his majesty citing the transfiguration on the mount (Mark 9:2-9) as a proof of the gospel. In vs. 19 of the same 2 Peter 1, in further proof of the gospel, he stated that that we have a more sure word of prophecy. This insinuates that there is something that is surer than the vision they saw on the mount. Please note that even the devil and his angels can manipulate dreams, visions and perform miracles, signs and wonders. Thus, it is the more sure word of prophecy that he and other apostles and disciples used in asserting the authority of the gospel they preached. In vs. 20 and 21, he made us know that the prophecy is of the Scripture and is of the inspiration of Holy Spirit. This, thus, tells us that the true teachings of Christ must be in consistence with the Holy Scripture.
What then is the Scripture? Have in mind that from Matthew to Revelation had not been written at that time and even when Timothy was a child. Luke 24:27 “And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself”. Luke 24:44-45  “And he said unto them, These are the words which I spoke unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. Then he opened their understanding, that they might understand the Scriptures”. These two places stated it categorically that the Holy Scriptures is the law (also referred to as Moses or the Law of Moses), the prophets and the psalms that is Genesis to Malachi. This is what the savior, his apostles and disciples knew as the Holy Scripture and they also used it in their preaching.
This leads to an aspect of the importance of the Scriptures for which the two apostles upheld it. From the two earlier verses, Luke 24:27 and Luke 24:44-45, it can be seen that the Scriptures concerning Christ, of which he made them understand. A further proof of this is seen in the following: in Matityahu 11:13, Yehoshua said “for all the prophets and the law prophesied until Yehocanan”.  What did they prophesy about? This was answered in Matityahu 5: 17 “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.” Thus, it is the prophecies of the law and the prophets (Genesis to Malachi) that he came to fulfill. Moreover, in Yehocanan 5:39, Yehoshua told the Yehudiym (Jews):  “you search the Scriptures; for in them you think you have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.”  In the same chapter verse 45-47, he made us know that Moses wrote about him and also that his words are not different from the writings of Moses. Such also occurred in Yehocanan 1:45 where Philip called Nathanael.
With these, we see that Holy Scriptures wrote all about Christ: his name, birth, teachings, life, death etc. Thus, for one to know all about our savior, he or she has to go back to the Holy Scriptures (the law and the prophets). The Holy Scriptures is the standard or official document for every true Christian. The original Scripture, as we all know, is written in Hebrew language. Finally, the Holy Scriptures, which is the law and the prophets (Genesis to Deuteronomy as the law and Yehoshua son of Nun to Malachi as the prophets) wrote all the truth about our savior and one of them is that his name shall be called YEHOSHUA. Receive and believe in his name, Yehoshua, for salvation today.
