One mistake, I think, most parents do is the neglect of the
child's needs and desires. They presume that children have no
right at all and therefore tend to lord and superimpose their
desires on the children. At one point in life, the child tends to
express his own desire which then, clashes with that of the
parents, leading to many things. The fact is that every child
has his/her own desires. These desires are most times erratic,
lack of control and in random motion. So, all we need, as
parents and parents to be, is to recognize the fundamental
rights and needs of the children and offer firm but gentle
guidance to them. Thus, this leads to a happy and fruitful
relationship because the child is a SECOND PARTNER in every
relationship!
